When is the best time to come shopping in Poland?
The best date depends on the purpose of your visit
There is no single perfect month for shopping in Poland. One date may suit a customer focused on the lowest prices, another a project involving made-to-order products, and another a couple wishing to combine intensive shopping with an enjoyable stay in Gdańsk.
The real plan must combine three calendars: retail promotions, production lead times and available departures from Poland. Only when these are coordinated can a good offer be used without leaving finished goods in storage for weeks or missing the start of construction work.
Stores often compete for customers before the summer
Late spring and early summer can be a good time for offers on home furnishings, garden products, terraces, bathrooms and selected building materials. Retailers use the busy renovation season to introduce discounts, bundles, reduced delivery charges or additional benefits for larger orders.
It is also a busy period for manufacturers and logistics teams. A good price does not guarantee immediate availability. For kitchens, windows, doors, stairs and customised furniture, the production date may matter more than the promotional date.
November and Black Friday can bring attractive prices
November is a natural time to compare appliances, lighting, furniture, interiors and products sold by major retail chains. Black Friday campaigns often last longer than one day and may cover several weeks.
Not every discount gives the best final result. For a larger project, we also compare the original price, delivery, storage, export and VAT procedures, and the availability of the complete order. A product discounted by 25 percent may be less attractive than one discounted by 15 percent if the first store cannot support export or requires immediate collection.
Before Christmas there are opportunities, but less time
During the first half of December, some stores want to complete annual sales targets and clear warehouse space. This can support negotiations on stock products, display models and discontinued ranges.
At the same time, the number of working days is shrinking, manufacturers close order windows and warehouses operate under pressure. Standard departures are disrupted around the final week of December and the first week of January, so year-end shipping requires early booking and preparation.
A promotion is valuable only when the goods can be produced, collected, consolidated and shipped at the right time.
Summer in Gdańsk: shopping and plenty to do afterwards
In summer, Gdańsk remains lively from morning until late evening. After store visits, customers can walk along the Motława River, explore the Main Town and Granary Island, visit the beach or choose from many restaurants. An intensive shopping trip can therefore also become a short holiday for a couple or family.
Hotels should be booked early and extra road traffic should be included in the schedule. The Fixer assistants arrange store routes to protect the most important meetings from peak congestion.
St Dominic’s Fair: three weeks of exceptional atmosphere
St Dominic’s Fair takes place every year from late July for approximately three weeks. In 2026 it is scheduled for 25 July to 16 August. It is one of Europe’s oldest and best-known outdoor events.
Hundreds of stands offering crafts, art, collectibles, regional food and products from across Poland fill central Gdańsk. Concerts and family events take place across many streets of the Main Town.
This adds considerable value to a shopping trip, but it also makes the centre busier, noisier and more difficult to access by car. A hotel slightly away from the busiest streets may be the better choice.
The Christmas Market: winter Gdańsk after shopping
Gdańsk’s Christmas Market takes place at Targ Węglowy and nearby streets. In 2026 it is planned for 21 November to 23 December. Illuminations, crafts, regional food and warm drinks create an enjoyable conclusion to a day of commercial meetings.
This period combines well with November promotions. Weekends are busy, so customers focused on efficient purchasing should consider weekdays and visit the market after meetings.
Made-to-order goods determine the real schedule
Some products are available immediately, while kitchens, windows, doors, furniture in selected fabrics, stairs and bespoke elements may require several or many weeks. Complex orders can have lead times of around three months.
The schedule must include design revisions, approval of colours and measurements, deposits, production, delivery to the warehouse, inspection and waiting for other suppliers. Flights should therefore not be booked solely around the planned renovation date.
- First, we estimate the production time for each product group.
- Then we select a visit date that allows the key decisions to be made.
- After purchasing, we build a shared consolidation schedule.
- Transport is booked with a buffer for production delays and export formalities.
How to choose your visit date
Late spring, November and the first half of December may suit customers focused on promotions. Those wishing to combine shopping with sightseeing can consider summer, including St Dominic’s Fair, or late November and December during the Christmas Market.
When a project includes many made-to-order products, production start dates matter more than the tourism season. Contacting us several months before booking flights allows the entire schedule to be checked.
Choose the date based on the whole project
Send us your shopping list, planned construction start and preferred length of stay. We will review seasonal opportunities, production times and realistic shipping windows, then suggest a date that best combines price, availability and travel convenience.
